Critical Role has revealed a special three-part campaign that will take place across the month of July. This flashback-style storyline will include members of the core Critical Role cast as well as two special guests. Abubakar Salim who plays Alyn of Hull in the Game of Thrones spinoff show House of the Dragon. And Noshir Dalal who voices Kotallo in the video game Horizon Forbidden West.
Critical Role is currently playing through its third livestreamed Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Since they started about a decade ago, they have grown to include supplemental shows, a game publishing company called Darrington Press, a merch store, charity events, and more. Led by dungeon master Matthew Mercer, these campaigns have recently become an animated television series on Amazon Prime. The Legend of Vox Machina is currently on Prime, which was their first campaign that met with resounding success. Their second campaign, the Mighty Nein, is currently in production for television. Their third campaign follows the adventures of the group known as Bells Hells.

Critical Role’s recent live show ended with the party finding an ancient artifact. This artifact gave them a vision of the past. This vision will be explored real-time across this upcoming flashback campaign. It will be called Downfall, and will have Dimension 20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan as the dungeon master. Joining him for the cast is Abubakar Salim and Noshir Dalal. From the core Critical Role cast Laura Bailey, Ashley Johnson, and Taliesin Jaffe will also join. It’s unknown at this time what characters the cast will be playing.
Through a video posted on X, Matthew Mercer and Brennan Lee Mulligan promise this will be a “tragic tale”.
Downfall from Critical Role will stream via Twitch, YouTube, and their personal new service called Beacon. The campaign will air on July 11th, July 18th, and July 25th at 7pm Pacific time.
