Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Spidey, whatever you want to call him, might not be as tall as you think. Either that or New Yorkers might just be freakishly large. Fans have recently discovered that Spider-Man is dwarfed by the citizens of New York City but only when they are on the subway.
User Joee0201 pointed out this strange happening in Spider-Man 2 in a Reddit post on the official PlayStation SubReddit. Now that you see how small Petey is, it is hard to look at him the same way. While this may seem like a really strange occurrence, it is actually a lot more common than you might think.
A few years back, a similar circumstance went viral. It involved Gears of War 5 and how small the player characters are when they enter one of the bathrooms. Every bathroom stall appears huge while the rest of the game seems relatively normal-sized. One Redditor was kind enough to share the clip from Gears 5 in the comments.
This occurrence tends to happen when a development studio accidentally scales an object in the wrong way. Scaling is sometimes pretty tricky and it can lead to things appearing smaller, or in this case bigger than they actually are supposed to be. Since the people are so big on the subway, it is safe to say that the actual train is a bit too small.
While some users have pointed out that this is a ridiculous oversight, it is nothing that breaks the game or makes it unplayable. Many have pointed out that it is really amusing to see tiny Spider-Man being amazed by how big his fellow New Yorkers are. Others, however, have stated that Spider-Man should get an update to fix this. What do you think? Is Spider-Man a broken mess or is this a funny oversight that you can let slide? Many other aspects, such as the voice actors in Spider-Man 2, are really good.
