Magic: The Gathering announced at a special preview panel during MagicCon: Amsterdam their newest card set. Duskmourn: House of Horror takes place on a new plane called Duskmourn. Inspired by 1980s horror through the present day, this spooky set keeps classic Magic elements with an exciting new setting. Magic just released some background information on the story for this set, as well as some quite creepy artwork.
The son of Planeswalker Tamiyo, a young man named Nashi, vanished through a mysterious door. The only clue players have to follow is a glitchy recording of a world full of horrors. Join characters Niko Aris, Tyvar Kell, Zimone Wola, Kaito Shizuki, and the Wanderer as they investigate this new plane and search for Nashi.
Duskmourn: House of Horror features four new Commander decks as well as Play Boosters. The card set is available for pre-order at online retailers such as Amazon, and at your local game store. It will be released on September 27th, 2024. Just in time for October fun! And Magic is making sure they don’t miss out. There will be a WPN Trick or Treat Halloween activity and Commander Open House events at participating game stores. MagicCon: Las Vegas will be taking place Halloween weekend, and they are planning a spooktacular event for attendees. It will be interesting to see more details revealed as the event gets closer!
If you pre-order the set before the end of July, you will get a Duskmourn-themed MTG Arena sleeve via a redeemable code. Local game stores will also take part in a Buy-a-Box promo. You can receive a traditional foil extended-art with exclusive John Tedrick artwork. This is while supplies last, of course.
Some fun new card treatments are also coming for Duskmourn. Get ready for double-exposure cards, textured foil cards, paranormal-frame cards, and more! This set also brings back the Delirium mechanic from Shadows Over Innistrad, which focuses on card types in your graveyard. There is also the Impending mechanic, where cards with such abilities can be cast for an alternative cost and aren’t considered creatures until their time counter runs out. Should be interesting!
Pre-order Duskmourn: House of Horror today, and brave the infinite changing rooms!
