Overwatch 2’s latest tank, Hazard, has had his abilities revealed before his playtest in the game starting today and running throughout the weekend. A new developer blog has explained a lot about the process of developing the hero and what exactly he can do to stand out on the field.
Hazard Overwatch 2 Abilities and Ultimate
Here are Hazard’s abilities at his release in Overwatch 2:
- Bonespur
- Fires spikes in a shotgun burst
- Spike Guard
- Block damage from in front of you while regenerating ammo and shooting spikes at nearby enemies
- Vault

- Jagged Wall

- Works on any surface
- Hazard can climb this wall
- Violent Leap

What kind of tank is Hazard?
Hazard seems to be stuck somewhere between a dive tank and a brawler. It appears his kit was made with a lot of focus on combining your attacks to get eliminations and wreck the enemy team. This character isn’t looking to defend his team, he is looking to disrupt supports and squishy damage enemies. We don’t imagine he has much value fighting the enemy tank, so he wants to focus on the little guy.
Of course, we don’t know for sure until we get a chance to play Hazard later today when his playtest goes live in Overwatch 2, but Hazard feels like a different take on Doomfist. He doesn’t quite have the movement potential of the Talon leader, but he should always have the ability to get in a few hits on the enemy, even when he’s defending himself.
