There is no denying that communication between Helldivers 2 players and Arrowhead has been a big problem. This has directly impacted the way many fans play the game and it means that fewer Helldivers 2 players are fighting Automatons. While there are some that believe Arrowhead needs to give more incentives to fighting the Automatons, most players believe that communication is the reason why only around 30% of the player base chooses to fight on the western front.
CouldBeBetterTBH recently posted on Reddit sharing their gripe about the lack of players fighting Automatons. Previously the user shared different effects that the Helldivers 2 armors should have. In their recent post, the user stated, “Something needs to draw players onto this side of the Galactic Map or else we’re never going to make any progress in the West unless Joel keeps tweaking the numbers and throwing pity wins at us every single time the Automatons become a focus or even a part of a Major Order.” However, many believe the issue is a lack of communication.
One user commented, “A lot of players don’t follow any info that’s not presented in-game. I only know about supply lines because it’s been posted here. If the game doesn’t tell them “Defend Vernen Wells or lose your capture rate bonus across the whole system”, they’ll never know to pitch in there and help.” Another user responded to this statement showing the only means of communication have been Reddit and Discord – both unreliable when it comes to communicating.
Another user continued by saying, “YES thank you – AH does a terrible job of telling people where they need to be. Other than Major Orders and big “DEFEND” banners, I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing. This game is a lot of fun but so frustrating to deal with.” It is clear that the lack of communication is getting to people. If we are going to get more Helldivers 2 players on the western front to fight the Automatons, we need to have a better method of communication.
Some recently posted about the lack of social mechanics in the game. This is a perfect opportunity for Arrowhead to implement new features such as guilds to help players communicate. The team should also reveal all of the supply lines on the map to help players coordinate their efforts in the war.
