There is no denying that Helldivers 2 has performance issues. Since day one, players have complained about the game crashing on PC and PS5. Many have mentioned issues such as stuttering, high CPU usage, high RAM usage, and more. It also doesn’t help that every improvement to the game also adds new ways for it to crash. It is a neverending cycle that Arrowhead is hoping to eventually break. Community manager Twinbeard has finally mentioned the performance issues and everything is being looked into.
Earlier, someone said in the Helldivers 2 Discord, “I would have appreciated it if the team was more focused on performance fixes.” To this, Twinbeard replied, “We are.” He went on to say, “We’re digging deep in this and apart from various fixes, we have a theory of high RAM use we’re checking. I don’t think I’ll have time to elaborate on this in the same way as I did with the SPM, but we have NOT forgotten about it. I wrote a lengthy post on it internally y-day and got some good info. TLDR: we know, we’re working on alleviating it and we haven’t forgotten it.”

Arrowhead is well aware of the many performance issues that Helldivers 2 is still having despite a larger update that added over 100 fixes to the game. There have also been smaller patches recently that have been adding even more fixes. Despite this, the game still requires a lot of power to run if you are playing on PC and odds are your CPU and RAM might be getting a bit overworked.
If you have been experiencing crashes and stuttering in Helldivers 2, it might be because your computer is getting overworked. We have found that having vSync and the Framerate Limiter turned off helps. Of course, this isn’t a guaranteed fix and you may still experience some issues with the game. Hopefully, when Arrowhead returns from vacation, a larger patch that fixes many of the issues will be rolled out.
