Helldivers 2 has been through many changes since it was released near the start of the year. Players have seen countless weapons get nerfed, multiple Warbonds, the collapse of the player base, and even the game’s redemption. With the latest patch, Arrowhead decided to listen to fans and buff many of the game’s weapons. Now, some players think things are a bit too easy and are requesting a higher difficulty. Well, according to community manager Twinbeard, a higher difficulty might just be on the many for Helldivers 2. There might be other changes coming as well. Let’s break them down.
Twinbeard Teases a Higher Difficulty and Additional Changes
Recently, Arrowhead buffed a ton of weapons in a rather massive patch. This shocked fans and made them excited to play Helldivers 2 once more. With that being said, now that the weapons are powerful again, the game feels a bit too easy for some. That is where a new higher difficulty comes in.
Recently, community manager Twinbeard teased that a new higher difficulty and additional changes could be coming in the near future. In a post on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, Twinbeard stated, “We’ll try to please players who really want to be challenged by introducing either a higher diff. setting.” On top of this, he also teased new changes by saying they would also work “options such as missions with pre-set conditions, getting achievements/resources/etc for beating missions without dying or in X time or [something] similar.”
He ended the statement by saying “I really think we can have and do both.” Of course, with the new changes, Arrowhead will need to be careful about how it implements them. Working too quickly on a specific mission can introduce bugs that players will need to deal with until the team can fix them. Twinbeard also stated, “For an overwhelming percentage the game is the best it’s ever been right now.” Going forward, the team will “be very careful when introducing changes.”
With all of that being said, there is no confirmation as to when we could see these changes unfold. Since Arrowhead recently updated the game and introduced a new Warbond, odds are we won’t see another substantial update for a month or two. This will give players plenty of time to figure out which weapons they want to stick with until Arrowhead changes the game once again.
