Helldivers 2 players have been failing the recent major orders. While part of this has to do with a decrease in the player base, lack of player knowledge is another key reason for these failures. This isn’t the fault of the players as democracy was rigged against them this entire time. The reason for this is simple; Helldivers 2 lacks information about supply lines. You might be reading this and not even know what they are. Don’t worry, we didn’t know about them when we started playing either. That is about to change.
To put it briefly, supply lines are the connections between the planets in Helldivers 2. If you want to control one planet, you must first control a neighboring planet that is connected to the one you are trying to reach. This information is useful during major orders such as the defense MO from last month where players attempted the Martale Gambit to successfully complete the mission on Charon. See, taking one planet can aid in the defense of another because it cuts off supplies to the enemies on that other planet.
So how will supply lines change going forward?
Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard announced on the official Helldivers 2 Discord page that “there will be more visual clarity in terms of supply lines going forward.” He stated this in response to a user’s comment that says, “You really, really need to tell the team to increase visual clarity about the importance of planets and how bonuses are tied to them. Also, some big message on the side screen ‘If this planet is lost, bonuses will be lost’.”

As part of the response, Twinbeard stated that this update in visual clarity will “be implemented, possibly in several steps, with the first step coming in a not-so-distant future.” Twinbeard could be referring to the patch that is meant to be released in June. Twinbeard has also teased multiple additions coming in a future update saying previously that “there will be balancing and some new stuff in the next patch.”
While Twinbeard failed to go into detail about the upcoming patch, we imagine that supply lines could be added to this as many have been asking for an update on this feature for a long time. Perhaps the “new stuff” that Twinbeard mentioned will be additional weapons that players have been asking for such as melee weapons but that has yet to be confirmed. They are still plausible though.
