Weapon customization is something that always seemed out of reach for players in Helldivers 2. That is, until a popular leaker started showcasing the feature across social media. This gave the community hope that weapon customization would be coming to the game at some point. Of course, there was no telling when it would be added. That day happens to be today, as it has been announced that Helldivers 2 is getting weapon customization alongside a significant balance update. Players should now be able to adjust the parts on their weapons and make them better than ever before.

Arrowhead announced weapon customization for Helldivers 2

Johan Pilestedt returned to the update couch with Niklas Malmborg to share the news about weapon customization being added to Helldivers 2. Currently, only primary weapons can be tweaked, but Malmborg said sidearms might be “in the future.”

The team showcased the customization menu, which appears to be rather extensive, but it also depends on what weapon you are tweaking. “Plasma weapons will have less attachments, while we have more stuff for generally the bullet weapons,” Malmborg stated.

Thanks to the weapon customization options, you can change aspects of the weapons, such as the muzzle, handle, sights, and magazine. There are also multiple patterns that can be equipped onto the weapons. It really seems like the Arrowhead team went above and beyond for this system. Keep in mind that there will be a lot of balance changes that may need to be tweaked as time goes on to make the system perfect.

When asked about future Warbonds, Malmborg stated, “Each weapon that we release in a new Warbond will come with customization. You will get the weapon and you will get the progression for it.” Of course, depending on the weapon, there will be more or less weapon customization. Overall, players will start getting more out of every weapon release.
