Helldivers 2 is full of various modifiers that can affect how a mission turns out. For instance, armor modifiers will help you survive on the various planets and boosters will grant you additional benefits. Working against you, however, are planetary modifiers. These include things like fire tornados, blizzards, acid storms, and ion storms. Depending on the planet, you will need to deal with different types of effects. One Helldivers 2 player has suggested more of these planetary modifiers and we definitely want them added to the game.
Reddit user Human_the_archivist posted a small list of planetary modifiers they believe should be added to Helldivers 2 and the response has been pretty great. In the post, they list the following effects:
- Oxygen Rich – This planet has a higher than average density of oxygen, resulting in 50% increased fire damage, and slightly longer burn times. Be aware that prolonged use of traditional combustion-based firearms may cause the weapon to occasionally catch flame, resulting in serious injury.
- Low Gravity – This planet has a weak gravitational pull, resulting in dives having 35% higher horizontal velocity, and a noticeably slower descent velocity. Grenades can be thrown 50% further, but may be harder to predict the trajectory of. Getting ragdolled may have… less than normal characteristics.
- Eternal Night – Due to having large, tidally locked moons orbiting the planet, most of its surface is trapped in perpetual night. Only faint glimpses of moonlight periodically illuminate the surface. The more or less indefinite darkness here has led to the installation of basic lighting systems across most colonies, and the roads that connect them.
These modifiers would add some great new characteristics to the planets, resulting in more interesting and entertaining missions. We especially love the low-gravity effect which results in slower, funnier ragdolling. Many players have focused on the idea of being thrown about on a low-gravity planet. The only planetary modifier for Helldivers 2 we might want to avoid is the enteral night.
This isn’t the only suggestion that players have had since the game’s release. Some Helldivers 2 fans got together and presented a comprehensive feedback report based on the recent update. Their hope is to make the game more fun for everyone.
