Blizzard is hinting at something big coming to Overwatch 2 soon, and players are guessing it is professional wrestler and actor John Cena. Recently, streamers of the game have had some interesting images appear on their stream outside of their control. A video of a hooded figure named Enigma typing at a keyboard appears among various messages and HTML code that some point to as hints to Cena’s inclusion in the upcoming Invasion content for Season 6.
While Sombra is the well-known hacker of Overwatch 2, this hooded figure has a male build. His voice can also be heard a bit, but it is distorted, so we can’t say that it is certainly Cena’s voice. A repeating message, “The invasion is coming. I need your help to form an army. Now is the time.” is played.
Clues pointing toward John Cena coming to Overwatch 2
Where things get a little more convincing is in the HTML code messages that have appeared in other streamers’ gameplay. There’s a portion saying font family: Felix-Antony. The wrestler’s full name is John Felix Anthony Cena. The background color code #161616 could point to Cena’s 16 WWE championship wins. The color of the font itself is #042377. Cena’s birthday is April 23, 1977. A link in the message takes people to an image of a wide square with the initials JC.
To add further fuel to the speculation fires, John Cena has posted a screenshot from a stream that included Overwatch streamers and executive producer Jared Neusse. If you go to the time stamp in the stream he screenshotted, the group is discussing future Overwatch collaborations following the One Punch Man event earlier this year.
As of this writing, Blizzard has not confirmed the hacker’s identity. There are so many clues pointing to John Cena here that it is hard to deny. That being said, years ago, the Overwatch community was also certain Terry Crews would be the voice of Doomfist when that hero was added to the game. This situation could be a massive bait-and-switch, with Cena playing to the whims of the crowd, as he is known to do as a performer.
Overwatch 2: Invasion is just a couple of weeks away, and it is expected to be a big deal. Blizzard is finally adding story missions alongside a new hero, mode, and battle pass. A new cooperative PvE event involving the Push mode robot armed with gatling guns is also on the way. If Enigma isn’t in the story missions, he could appear there. Cena could also just promote the new season. Regardless, all Overwatch 2 players are ready to see what is coming.
