The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has arrived and things are not looking good for the popular shooter gamer. Since launch, players have complained about the game’s progression system and matchmaking. Lately, the focus has been on ranked matches and how cheaters are running rampant. The latest update, however, has done nothing to fix the game’s issues and players have had enough. The Black Ops 6 player count on Steam is now back to the levels it was at before the game’s release when it was still Modern Warfare III.
This isn’t the first issue that players have had with the latest update for Black Ops 6. A recent bug that got patched quickly by Treyarch made it so players would get stuck on the end screen during ranked matches. Many have asked Treyarch to refund the lost SR from the glitch but the developers have yet to respond.
Black Ops 6 players call latest update “greedy trash”
Black Ops 6 players have been bashing on the latest update with some notable YouTubers such as Rushin, Westie, and MrRoflWaffles mentioning how terrible the update is. MrRoflWaffles stated in a post on X, “Will not be covering CoD X Squidgame collab. Feels in poor taste when the game has the issue it has.”
In a different post, YouTuber Rushin called the latest update “greedy trash.” Westie stated in their post, “The milking of this game’s audience has gotten more and more egregious as the years have gone by.” Many players have joined in on calling out Treyarch and Activision for the latest update with one saying, “It’s so ironic that it’s Squid Game that’s being used for greed. Poetry, even.” Another user said, “Might be getting close to freeing up the storage space for a bit for other games that aren’t nerfing fun…”

The player count has also taken a noticeable hit on Steam in December with SteamDB showing that Black Ops 6 lost around 145,000 players. When Black Ops 6 was released in October, the player count increased by almost 150,000 players. This puts the player count back where it was when Modern Warfare III was the star of the show. It is hard to tell if this will be turned around anytime soon as many fans of the game seem to be tired of the same old song and dance that comes out of the Call of Duty franchise each year.
