Lil Gator Game is getting an expansion that takes your adventures underground with In the Dark. Developer MegaWobble and publisher Playtonic Friends are adding to the adventure that saw you try to win your busy sister’s attention by creating an epic journey filled with cardboard monsters and exploring the surrounding wilderness. You can view the trailer for the upcoming expansion below.
What’s new in Lil Gator Game: In the Dark?
In the Dark has Lil Gator and friends playing in an underground system that seems to include a mining area, deep roots for large trees, and other open cave areas. The gliding and shield surfing mechanics from the base game appear to still have a place here, but new toys like a pickaxe, bombs, and pole to spin around at “enemies” around you will be added into the mix.
New friends that weren’t in the base game will also be introduced. The trailer shows a pig, lizard, polar bear, and bat who will have some impact on your journey. We imagine they will act like the kids in the base game where they give you missions and the new toys for adventuring.
As of this writing, we don’t have any information on a release date or price point for Lil Gator Game: In the Dark. We also don’t know the status of Lil Gator’s sister or his friends from the outside world, though the art for the game does show them following him underground. Regardless, this expansion is a nice surprise. As stated above, Lil Gator Game is effectively a cozy take on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You are given a sandbox to explore to your heart’s content with no worries of running into something like a guardian or lynel.
