Lollipop Chainsaw is perhaps one of the biggest games from the mid-2000s. It sold over one million units during its original run and it is still regarded as a fantastic hack-and-slash game with a loyal cult following. The game focuses on cheerleader Juliet, born into a family of zombie hunters, as she fights back against the undead. This game is considered to be one of the best hidden gems of its time. With all that being said, many were excited about the announcement of Lollipop Chainsaw RePop – an uncut remaster of the original hack-and-slash gorefest. Unfortunately, the release of the remaster has come and fans are not very happy about the results.
Many fans have taken to the official Lollipop Chainsaw SubReddit to share their disappointment with Lollipop Chainsaw RePop. So many have flooded the Reddit page that it is now littered with footage of poor gameplay, glitches, graphical errors, and more. One such video was posted by user iksolzreh which shows Juliet kick open a gate only to slide across the ground while leaning on her trusty chainsaw.
Some have also noticed that the devs changed some of the lines in the game. One user pointed out that their favorite line was removed for seemingly no reason. In their post, they said, “One of my favourite random quips was when Nick tells Juliet his favourite colour and says “I f**ked up it’s yellow” such a minor line that used to crack me up and for some reason, in my past two playthroughs he skips that last line, kinda disappointed in some of the meaningless changes, anyone else noticed many or was it possible it was just a glitch in my game?”
More and more users are complaining about audio glitches, hits and combos not connecting, framerate issues, and just overall poor execution with the remaster. Some are even asking modders if they can put the original soundtrack back into the game so they don’t need to deal with the remaster’s horrible audio mixing. One user even shared a video of how much slower the attack animations are in RePop compared to the original – something that the devs said was sped up in RePop.
This appears to be yet another case of a remaster underperforming compared to the original game. Perhaps the team should have just let this one stay dead instead of raising it like one of the zombies roaming the streets of San Romero. Hopefully, the team will release some updates in the near future to tackle all of the issues that players are facing.
