Competitive play is one of the cornerstones of Marvel Rivals. Sure, there are plenty who enjoy a few rounds of quickplay, but if you want to rank up and get the good rewards, you want to start playing competitively. Unfortunately, as Marvel Rivals players have discovered, there is a major issue with competitive play that the devs need to address. This issue can cause a major imbalance during the match and lead to one side having a massive advantage over the other. NetEase, listen up if you want the game so last.
Marvel Rivals players point out major competitive issue
As one player posted on the Marvel Rivals SubReddit, the game has a major issue with disconnects during competitive play. In the post, the user states, “It’s extremely frustrating to play a whole minute 5v6 just to see a reconnect. This means the team with the DC is now forced to play the game with a huge positioning and ult disadvantage.”
When someone disconnects from the game during quickplay, another player can join in during the game. This makes it so the teams can be rebalanced mid-game, and there isn’t much of a disadvantage for one team. In competitive play, on the other hand, when someone gets disconnected, the game continues without that player. The lobby is then locked, and the team with a missing player has a massive disadvantage during the course of the game.
Players in the comments agreed that there should be a grace period when someone disconnects. Some said this should come in the form of a minute or two-minute delay in the lobby to find a new player, and others said it should instantly end the match if someone disconnects mid-game. Either way, it is agreed that something needs to be done to alleviate the stress of this issue.
