According to our sources, Marvel’s Deadpool VR is slated to be revealed at Summer Game Fest next week on June 6, exclusive to Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It is currently planned to release later this year. The game stars Neil Patrick Harris as the Merc with a Mouth and is being developed by Twisted Pixel, who are best known for games like ‘Splosion Man, The Maw, and The Gunstringer. These days, the team solely makes VR games under Oculus Studios.
What is Marvel’s Deadpool VR?
It is believed that Marvel’s Deadpool VR will be an entirely new story with Mojo set to be the main villain. If you don’t know, Mojo is an X-Men villain who is obsessed with television and regularly captures heroes to star in his shows to get good ratings on his planet, Mojoworld. We have heard that the game is set to take place on Mojoworld, so it could revolve around Mojo making Deadpool the star of his latest show. When describing the length of this story, our source says it will be a “full campaign.”
Other notable characters set to appear in the game are Lady Deathstrike, who regularly opposes Wolverine, and Flag-Smasher, who was reworked into a terrorist group in the Disney+ Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, but in the comics, is a villain who usually goes against Captain America and the ideas of nationalism. Deadpool has killed one of the Flag-Smashers by shooting him in the face before.
Like you might expect in a VR game, Marvel’s Deadpool VR will give you the chance to dual-wield the merc’s katanas, pistols, and pretty much any weapons you can pick up off of enemies. We’ve also heard there is a weapon upgrade system that lets you do things like throw a gun like a boomerang or use it as a grappling hook.
Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest has become a grand stage for all gaming developers to reveal their latest and greatest works in recent years, so this is a good place for Marvel’s Deadpool VR to be announced, similar to Batman: Arkham Shadows last year. It’s been quite a while since Deadpool had his own game, so hopefully, Quest owners will have a ball playing this new title.
