A Minecraft player has shown off a massive flex on Reddit after creating a large look at the Milky Way Galaxy. According to Redditor Papaya314, they single-handedly mined out a large crater by hand in Survival without using TNT and then decorated it with various blocks to make the image below. The design was taken from a picture of the Milky Way and converted to pixel art.
According to Papaya, this project started in February 2022, so it took them about a year and a half. In-game time, it lasted about 6,000 days. They mined down to Bedrock and cleared out a perimeter with a radius of 129 blocks. Over 40,000 blocks are bringing this image to life down on the base level, with an additional layer of Glass blocks on top. As you might imagine, an extensive list of resources is used to make it. The main tools used were four Silk Touch and four Fortune Netherite Pickaxes with the help of Haste II Beacons.
From a look at their timeline, it looks like clearing out the blocks justifiably took the most time. Two million blocks of Deepslate were removed. About a week of the 17-18 months was spent gathering resources and another week putting everything in place. You can look at the post below for how the giant crater looked before decorating began.
We applaud Papaya for sticking to such a long-term project like this. Making a look at the Milky Way Galaxy in Minecraft by hand without help would definitely cause us to back out or seek more help about a week in. Sticking with it for a year and a half shows a level of dedication and determination that has paid off with a great-looking final product.
