The newest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom gives us a much closer look at the Still World, the dimension that has been popping up in Hyrule and stealing people and landmarks. The trailer runs for over five minutes and shows off more traversal gameplay, a new swordfighter form, and the return of dungeons to the series.
While we originally had the impression that much of Echoes of Wisdom would be handled in a Hyrule broken up by rifts, it looks like the Still World will take up a good chunk of your time as well. Everything here is fragmented, with various obstacles broken apart, forcing you to use your echoes to traverse the area. It does appear to be more linear because of this, though.
Dungeons and bosses within them will take place in the Still World as well. Like the puzzles you deal with while walking around the overworld, how you approach each seems to vary depending on the echoes you have available, so you can experiment with various combinations. We also see a quick shot of her resting in a bed to regain her hearts.
When The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was announced, some were disappointed that with Link missing, there would be no sword combat. It appears that Nintendo foresaw that criticism and has included a sword-fighting form. With a sword in hand, she dons Link’s tunic and can use all of his normal combat abilities for a limited time. You can’t do this indefinitely, though. You will need to gather energy in the Still World to build up a meter that lets you use this form.
Probably the most exciting aspect of the Echos of Wisdom Still World trailer is that we see a quick cut at the end of a corrupted Link attacking Zelda. This implies that, at least at some point, we will likely have a boss fight against the usual protagonist of these games.
