Epic Games continues to flex its market-share muscles as it launches the brand new mobile storefront available on iPhone (EU Only) and Android (worldwide) platforms. The launch includes popular games Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe and Fall Guys Mobile.
This seems to be just the first step in a much larger journey for the company. Founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney weighed in on the situation stating, “The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition. We are grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users in the European Union…” He continued his stance speaking of their plans for the future, “This is just the beginning of efforts to bring our games back to all these platforms worldwide. The fight’s not over until Fortnite is back on iOS everywhere and free of Apple’s junk fees and [tech fees]”
With the popularity of mobile gaming only growing (1.7B Players in 2024) and the constant excitement around almost all Epic Games’ titles, it’s not hard to believe the company has made the definitive transition to this extremely accessible and relevant platform. The mobile gaming market will only continue to surge as more large video game developers and major IPs follow suit.
