June is nearly here and Overwatch 2 is set to celebrate pride month with the usual pride festival variant of its Midtown map. While that aspect of the game is a retread from previous years, Blizzard are giving all players a chance to get a free epic skin and emote for Soldier: 76 and a new Overwatch 2 short story called Futures Past is now available to read, which goes deeper into Jack’s relationship with his ex-boyfriend Vincent, and a team-up with Illari to get some important information about the Inti Warriors.
Pride In-Game Celebration
Starting on May 30 and running until June 30, log in to Overwatch 2 at any time and you will receive the Resilient skin for Soldier: 76. Like other epic rarity skins, this is more of a recolor of his base Overwatch 2 skin, but it features blue, green, and purple coloring to represent the Men-Loving-Men pride flag. You will also receive a rainbow smoke bomb emote for him.
As it has been in past years, Midtown will be covered in confetti and various decorations celebrating pride month in June. This will be active in Quick Play, Competitive, and Arcade will feature a playlist that continually brings you to this map if you want to keep playing it.
Overwatch 2 Futures Past Short Story Breakdown
As mentioned above, the Futures Past short story also focuses on Soldier: 76. As you read through it, you will continually be jumping between the past and the present. Three key moments of Jack meeting Vincent, him telling Vincent he was joining the soldier enhancement program, and their inevitable break up. In the present, Jack is working with Sombra to deliver a virus to Illari and then teams up with her to prevent Oasis from having Inti Warrior information. The story is pretty good, and honestly, we think it could have made a really interesting cinematic, if Blizzard was still making them.
