Overwatch 2 will be getting World of Warcraft skins next Tuesday. The WoW collab will feature four legendary skins for Reinhardt, Torbjorn, Widowmaker, and Zenyatta. You will be able to buy all of the skins bundled together or separately in the in-game store for Overwatch Coins like usual. You can watch the reveal trailer below.
Here is the breakdown of which Warcraft characters these four heroes will be dressing up as:
- Reinhardt – Lich King
- Torbjorn – Diamond Magni
- Widowmaker – Sylvanas Windrunner
- Zenyatta – Thrall
Overall, we would say the World of Warcraft skins look pretty good in Overwatch 2. We especially like Lich King Reinhardt, whose hammer has made a very impressive transformation into the legendary Frostmourne blade. Widowmaker’s Sylvanas skin was originally revealed during Gamescom, but this is our first look at it in-game. We imagine that some hardcore Warcraft fans might be put off seeing Zenyatta as Thrall, which is an odd choice, but we think the art team made it work pretty well. Finally, Diamond Magni is just a recolor of the Magni skin Torbjorn already has, so that one isn’t necessarily eye-popping.
This collaboration isn’t the first time World of Warcraft skins have made their way to Overwatch 2. We already mentioned Torb’s Magni, but Genji got Illidan Stormrage and Symmetra has a Tyrande Whisperwind skin that were both exclusive to BlizzCon 2019 packages. On top of that, a Diablo 4 collaboration event happened a year ago in Overwatch 2. While that event celebrated the launch of Diablo 4, next week’s is a celebration of World of Warcraft’s The War Within expansion, which launched just a couple of weeks ago.
Blizzard is definitely not afraid to crossover their franchises now and again, so we are always happy to see cool collaborations like this. Hopefully, more will be on the way in not too long of a time.
