A Planet of the Apes TTRPG is coming soon to Kickstarter via Magnetic Press. Based on the book that has launched into multiple movies including a renewed franchise, players can choose to defend Ape City or aid in its destruction.
The game uses a d6 system made popular by West End Games. Adventure in a planet run by intelligent apes where humans are seen as inferior. Players can engage in large-scale battles, navigate political intrigue, or use subterfuge to achieve their goals. In addition to fighting and politics, the game also gives engaging exploration guests, mystery solving, and social encounters to cater to every playstyle.

Your adventures in this world of madness will take you to the ruins of a world destroyed—see what remains of the Statue of Liberty, the ostentatious Ape City, the foreboding Forbidden Zone, and the mysterious mutant undercity. It is a world defined by the stark contrasts of brutality and civility. Are you ape enough to handle the truth about the world you live in or will you lose your mind to it? – official site description
Details right now on the Kickstarter are limited. No official start date, funding goal, or backer tiers has been announced. To stay in the loop, sign up on the RPG’s website for notifications. Those who pre-register will receive an exclusive linen cardstock art print of the cover by Bill Sienkiewicz for free.

The timing of this announcement is good as the movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes just came to theaters this month. It has been released to very good reviews just like the last three in the rebooted series. Though it’s unlikely you’ll meet Caesar in this RPG as it is based more off the original book.
Who will you play: an ape or a human? Make your choice when the game is released!
