If you’ve been grinding Pokémon TCG Pocket you’re most likely nearing or completed the first initial set of cards. But fear not because Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting its first proper mini- set since its initial launch in the form of the Mythical Island packs in just a few days. The Mythical Island set looks to release on December 17th and will offer up a ton of new cards to discover.
We can assume once these packs go live they will be advertised front and center on the games homepage to lure users in once more. According to the official Pokémon TCG Pocket website the Mythical Island expansion will feature over 80 cards. Among them some highlighted cards include Aerodactyl EX, Mew EX, Celebi EX, and a Vaporeon full art card. The Mythical Island set also welcomes in a handful of first time pocket monsters like Purrloin, Serperior and Marshadow. As far as rarity goes Dedenne, Marshadow, Vaporeon, and the Mew, Celebi and Aerodactyl EX are the rarest cards in the Mythical Island set. It is worth noting that prior to this release the only way to obtain a Mew card was by collecting the original 150 Pokémon cards from the Kanto Pokédex. Now you can most likely pull the new Mex EX card by ripping more packs.
The Pokémon Company announced that TCG Pocket exceeded 60 million IOS and Android downloads since the game’s initial launch at the end of October. Following the release of The Mythical Island expansion we can only assume that this number will skyrocket heading into the holidays. Now with the game’s newest addition of the Mythical Island packs the only thing that remains to be seen is the ability to trade cards with your friends. This feature should follow soon after simply based off of the sheer volume of cards available in the game.
