Pokémon x Crocs collaboration, how on earth do you style these?

Amidst the ongoing debate over whether or not Crocs are still fashionable in 2024, the footwear brand has announced that it’s releasing even more variations of its Pokémon x Crocs collaboration sometime this year. These four new Classic Clogs designs, expected to be priced at $70 a pair, include the popular Gen I Pokémon: Charizard, Gengar, Snorlax and Jigglypuff.

From the initial photos, Crocs seems to have done a decent job representing each Pokémon within their respective shoe designs. From the borderline obnoxiously bright color palettes to the ginormous Jibbitz charms, there’s definitely no mistaking the Pokémon-ness of this upcoming collaboration…for better or worse (is it obvious we’re not totally sold on these yet?).

The biggest issue with these Pokémon Crocs is the seemingly limited versatility they’ll have when pairing them with a matching outfit. Although they could be a unique statement piece for some looks, this collection would have been more appealing if they had subtler designs so that people could get more wear out of them, especially with a $70 price tag.

But who knows? Maybe we’re underestimating the potential of this collaboration. Just last month, actress Brooke Shields was highlighted in Vogue after she wore bright yellow Crocs to the 2024 Tony Awards. If Crocs really are red-carpet worthy, perhaps this is a sign to embrace the goofiness and rock some Pokémon Jibbitz too.
