Tariff… It’s the “most beautiful word in the dictionary.” These words rang out from the president’s mouth on the campaign trail. Recently, President Donald Trump enacted a 10% sweeping tariff on numerous countries around the world. This marked what he called “Liberation Day.” Starting midnight on April 9, even greater tariffs kicked in. Now, there are changes taking place and they are not the kind that gamers would like to see. For instance, Razer has paused direct laptop sales in the US.
This is not the first retailer to perform a stunt like this. For instance, Nintendo recently announced that Switch 2 pre-orders, which were supposed to start on April 9 in the US, are pushed back until further notice as the company evaluates the tariff situation.
Razer seemingly pauses laptop sales in the US
Razer has been taking pre-orders for its new Razer Blade 16 laptop – the “thinnest Razer Blade gaming laptop.” According to The Verge, this laptop was available for pre-order as recently as April 1st, 2025 – the day before Donald Trump announced the sweeping tariffs. Since then, the page has been removed and a direct link to it takes you to a 404 error page. Selecting the laptop on Razer’s website only gives you the option to be notified when it becomes available.

Checking out other laptops on Razer’s website, none appear to be available for purchase. Those who decide to venture to the Canadian version of Razer’s website will see that laptops are available for purchase and pre-order. This includes the new Razer adjustable laptop stand which is unavailable on the US version of the site.
There are still some accessories that are available for purchase through the US version of the site such as chairs, keyboards, cords, monitor stands, and more. Unfortunately, all laptop sales appear to have been halted. There has been no official statement released by Razer yet about when laptop sales will resume.
