Remedy Entertainment is partnering with Annapurna to co-finance Control 2, and the two will be working together also to adapt Control and Alan Wake into television series and movies. Remedy tweeted the basic info below, but what it means for the franchises moving forward should be quite exciting for fans.
In the blog post talking about the new team-up, communications director Thomas Puha reveals that Remedy is maintaining full ownership of the Control and Alan Wake IPs, and it will be fully publishing the single-player Control 2 on its own. The multiplayer spinoff of Control, Condor, is still in production as well. This partnership doesn’t tell us exactly when to expect these projects to arrive, but they are likely still years away.
Of course, we don’t know the specifics of how Remedy and Annapurna do their work, but we can say we are excited to see how this partnership comes out. Both companies have a long list of amazing games in their catalogs. Both love going for the weird and creative routes that have amassed quite the following. This may be the perfect team-up.
When it comes to the movies and series, we would be shocked if a Night Springs show didn’t come out of this. Obviously, more stories focused on Alan Wake and Jesse Faden would be amazing, but the in-universe Twilight Zone-inspired show has to become a real thing at this point, right? Remedy is no stranger to live-action work. Quantum Break infused a series within its cutscenes between chapters, and Alan Wake 2 had them as well.
Hopefully, this partnership going forward will lead to more monetary success for Remedy and Annapurna. While Alan Wake 2 was one of the best games of 2023, the Epic Games partnership fractured much of the sales potential on PC. As of this writing, the game has still not made a profit.
