The Nameless: Slay Dragon is a turn-based RPG all by a single developer at Nameless Sword Studio. The world of indie gaming features several solo devs all working hard to get their games into our hands and next on the list of ‘The NameLess Inheritor’ looks quite intriguing. It’s got gigantic dragons, a vast world to explore, crafting, and an engaging cast of characters all trying to do as the name suggests and slay a dragon.
The storybook game has been in development for three years and just got a new gameplay trailer showing off the main cast and storyline. The Nameless: Slay Dragon is set on the continent of Alftedom. The gods have vanished and in their place one dragon took the throne and become a deity. In time, it too fell along with the heavens and in its place rose the Dragon King. Literally rising from the corpse of the Dragon God, the party sets off to fight the ruler all in hopes of defeating it. It may sounds familiar but finding the story wasn’t a simple solution for ‘The NameLess Inheritor’.
“What would the story be like if the hero faced the mighty, resourceful, and never-merciful dragon? What would the hero have to go through to be able to finally defeat such a beast? After asking myself this, I rewrote the entire story. From a tongue-in-cheek tone to a story full of intrigue, courage, struggles, choices, and fights.”
You’ll take control of a party of four unique characters each with their own background and special abilities. While you’ll play the role of the main protagonist, three others including, Cynthia, Mew, and Andy, will join you on your quest.
The Nameless: Slay Dragon plays out like a book come to life as a video game. Which I’m all about. As an author, being able to dive into a game with choices that impact the story and characters sounds fantastic. It also includes multiple endings, crafting, and exploration. So you won’t be confined to a linear story as your decisions will have meaning and change the landscape of the narrative.
“What makes RPGs a unique experience is that they depict the entire world from a human perspective. In my eyes, only an RPG can bring a unique sense of the world, so I’ve always been passionate about the genre.”
The Nameless: Slay Dragon launches on September 26, 2024 on PC and will come to Nintendo Switch at a later date.
