The newest trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie just dropped and there is a ton of hype that surrounds this film. For all that it’s worth, Sega has been on a roll with giving the Sonic franchise a ton of love and attention to detail when it comes to even the smallest details. This is where fans were quick to hop on the latest batch of character posters that recently dropped for this film and many believe that they might have cracked the code as for what familiar face we could see.
This story first gained traction when X user MationMiss pointed out how Tika Sumpter’s character Maddie seems to coordinate her wardrobe to the corresponding characters that are revealed later in the movie.
In 2020’s Sonic The Hedgehog, Maddie was seen at one point wearing a bright yellow top that would go on to be a nod to the Tails Prower reveal (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey) that would go down in the films post-credits tease. Fast forward to Sonic 2 and Maddie would then go on to wear a red shirt and black jacket which would again turn out to be related to the Shadow the Hedgehog reveal.
This brings us to more recently where the newest batch of character posters were revealed for the films third entry. Normally each character’s background is their corresponding color with Sonic boasting a typical blue, Tails being yellow and Knuckles is red, but Maddie could be back to her old tricks where she is wearing a bright pink sweater that many fans believe could be a nod to Sonic’s begrudged love interest Amy Rose.
Now I want to pose a new argument here and say Amy is a very viable option here for a reveal with the pink color pallet adding up. But I would like to propose this is a full on hint to Rouge the Bat. When we look at this franchise’s past films we start to see the presence of the military unit G.U.N. and they play a huge role in the overall Sonic story. And if this is a movie that takes inspiration from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle like many assume, Rouge who is associated with G.U.N. as a part time spy could be a lock in this film as well.
