Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Shadow-Dropped Along With Announcement

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a title Elder Scrolls fans hold in very high regards with many being hopeful that a remaster or remake would eventually see the light of day. While it may be the worst kept secret in gaming, Bethesda, along with the help of Virtuous, confirmed via a live stream presentation that the Oblivion remaster is indeed real and available now.

The Oblivion Remaster has been vastly improved by the use of Unreal Engine 5, and when compared to its original in-game footage from 2006, it’s truly phenomenal what was accomplished here. And in our opinion this graphical upgrade looks amazing. To honor the legacy that Oblivion has, the remaster will still use various parts of the old engine to give the game a closer feel to its original counterpart.

The remaster also looks to change up the user-interface and leveling system that brings it closer to most modern RPGs. Enemy combat, animations, sound, and visual effects are more realistic as well, which adds some weight behind the game’s first-person combat mode as well. The most groundbreaking addition here is we finally have a sprint button now.

The Oblivion Remaster launches with all add-ons and expansions such as the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. If you opt to get the deluxe edition, you will get the base game along with unique horse armor sets which is a nod to Oblivion’s infamous horse armor DLC. Other additional downloadable content includes the Fighter’s Stronghold expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves’ Den, Wizard’s Tower, and the Orrery.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available right now on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S for $49.99. Gamepass Ultimate subscribers also have access to the game on PC and Xbox as well.
