The latest Helldivers 2 patch brought in over 100 changes and fixes to the game, many of which have the community breathing a sigh of relief. After all, the devs spent an entire month going through the game and fixing many of the issues that players were having. If you read the patch notes, you will see that many of the games’ guns got a rework, Stratagems got updated, and environments got fixed. One Helldivers 2 change that was expected in the patch is an update to the Spear. While the Spear did get its update, it lost a great feature that many fans of the weapon were using to their advantage.
Those who use the Spear in Helldivers 2 know that the aiming system is fairly unreliable. The weapon seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to locking onto any enemy in the game, but when it does hit, the weapon does wonders. Thankfully, with the latest patch notes, the Spear for the update to its aiming system that it rightfully deserved. Specifically, the patch notes read, “The FAF-14 Spear targeting has been reworked and should now function better.” Don’t go cheering yet as the rest of the notes read, “However, it has lost the ability to target Automaton spawners, this is not intended and will be fixed in the future.”

That’s right. Those who choose to use the Spear can no longer target Automaton spawners. At least, it can’t target them for now. As shown in the patch notes, this was not intended and it is being worked on. Unfortunately, there is no ETA on when the fix for this issue will come about. For now, you will need to destroy Automaton spawners the old-fashioned way; by throwing a grenade down the vent.
There are a lot more fixes that came about in the latest Helldivers 2 patch such as invite-only lobbies, Super Samples at level 6, and more. Along with the update, players can also get access to the Viper Commandos Warbond.
