Dream-shaking its way onto the scene, The Run: Got Next is a new 3-on-3 streetball title from Play by Play Studios, a development team made up of former EA staff who worked on the beloved NBA Street games. It will be available for PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox sometime in 2025. The colorfully flamboyant, action-packed sports title tosses in a dash of rogue-like elements before sending you to compete on the streetball courts of the world. Grab a friend… or two!

Here are the key major features The Run: Got Next has to showcase:

  • Fast Paced, Full-Court, 3 on 3 Basketball Games – Both Solo or Squads!
    • Dunks, tricks and outrageous ball antics are here all to be used on the court!
  • Prioritizes Action Packed Fun – Easy to Pick Up
    • Mirroring some of the flow from NBA Street… or even NBA Jam, while still respecting the core game of basketball.
  • Classic Hoops + Rogue-Like Features
    • Pick from a variety of hoop legends, snag gameplay modifiers and brave the changing court conditions making each game unique!

All of which sound promising coming from a studio who’s mission statement is “Creating highly crafted sports games built to be played together and remembered forever.  We Bend the rules, for fun” If you weren’t already a believer, the development team is made up of members who worked on several beloved series like Battlefield, NBA Street and Apex Legends, just to name a few.

As a basketball fanatic and routine NBA 2K player myself, It’s refreshing to see The Run: Got Next take a spin on the sports genre. The bright art style and diverse playable characters breathe a sense of life into the game world from the early looks. Making you feel like you’re actually playing hoops in the world’s cultural streetball circuit.

Could The Run: Got Next be one of the next big e-sports contenders, joining the ranks of established giants like Rocket League and Madden?  It’s hard to tell, yet there is no denying The Run’s unique identity and adherence to the developer’s energetic hoops vision!  Either way, we’re looking forward to learning more as it nears launch some time next year.
