While it may be true that Helldivers 2 has lost much of its player base, those that remain are more determined than ever. Plenty of players are still out there making magnificent features for the game such as mods, videos, and even full demakes. 64 Bits on YouTube is best known for creating different versions of popular games. For instance, the channel created a demake for Palworld when it was released. Now, the creator has made their way over to the Super Earth galaxy for a demake of Helldivers 2 and it is one demake that we would love to get our hands on.
Earlier, the team behind the channel posted a short video of the Helldivers 2 demake and all its 16-bit glory. Similar to games such as Metal Slug, the demake focuses on side-scrolling action as the Helldivers. As part of the description, the creators state, “It’s 1996 and Helldivers 2 just came out in the arcades in 16-bits!!” This is the 13th game in their demake series and it is one that we are sure many fans of the series would want to play.
Of course, this isn’t actually a full game and it is just a short video showcasing what a 16-bit-style Helldivers 2 would look like. In the video, two Helldivers launch from their ship down to a bug-infested planet below. The video then continues to show clips of the Helldivers taking on various bug and bot threats across different planets as they fight to spread managed democracy.
While the game is not actually playable, Arrowhead Game Studios did show interest in it by reposting it on the official Helldivers 2 X page. Maybe the CEO and CCO will have the team work on a new Helldivers 2 project while they also work on adding more content to the current game. Maybe we could one day see a 16-bit Helldivers arcade game on board our ships.
