Let’s set a scene for a moment. It is the 90s, you wake up early, run downstairs to the living room, and sit in front of your TV. If you were like many kids in the 90s, you possibly had a Nintendo 64. If you were lucky, you had one of the rare translucent systems that stood out from those with the standard black faceplates.
These systems were great and everybody wanted them. Now, these systems sell for hundreds of dollars while the standard ones are still pretty cheap. Luckily, one company has come out and brought back that 90s nostalgia with some translucent PS5 faceplates.

Company DBrand, yes the same one that taunted Sony, has now officially created new plates for the PS5 system that are reminiscent of the old N64 consoles of the 90s. These console plates come in four different colors; black, blue, purple, and orange — some of the same colors the N64 came in minus the green.
You can mix and match the different colors to have the center and outside plates look different. Personally, we think having the center as black and the outside as orange is a great combination. You may remember DBrand after they made headlines by taunting Sony before getting threatened with a lawsuit. Looks like everything has gone well for them because they have even more faceplate colors as well as some center light strips to give your system that extra sense of style.
Those who don’t want to go with the full nostalgic look can also substitute the standard matte colors that DBrand offers, mixing them with the translucent plates. Purchasing these plates will cost you around $80 to $100 depending on when you purchase them. There is a benefit to DBrand’s faceplates. The faceplates they sell have better airflow which will help keep your system cooler while grinding away on whatever game you are playing.
