The Characters

The Splitgate 2 trailer highlighted three characters: Bolt, Mira, and Rinok. The trailer follows these characters as they train and gear up for battle, and then it follows them into the Splitgate arena. Additionally, a shot at the beginning of the trailer highlights what appears to be a locker room with the names Shinji, Phaze, Proto, Cara, Ada, and Mira, who the trailer shows more in-depth later. Some of these characters listed can be seen later on, fighting in the arena, such as Phaze, who is defeated by Rinok further into the trailer. With all of these unique characters being shown, it may be possible that the game will include a hero system. The Splitgate 2 website mentions that players may choose a faction to play for; it may be possible that the heroes are attached to a faction system.
The Gadgets

The trailer also showcases plenty of new gadgets and weapons, hinting at the possibility that the sequel may have far more customization for players entering the arena or that some of the characters mentioned have certain abilities and weapons that they bring into battle with them. Some gadgets include a half-sphere that slows time or paralyzes those caught and a rifle that can see through walls. Each character that appeared also seemed to have unique loadouts, such as Mira’s rifle and Bolt’s akimbo machine guns, that can be combined into one weapon. The end of the trailer teased a 2025 release date, and it also announced the game would come to current-gen and last-gen consoles, except the Switch, as well as to Steam and The Epic Games Store.
