Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was shown off following the Xbox Showcase on Sunday, and while we were only teased launch content, we were curious to see how the Zombies community took the initial reveal. We took to r/CODZombies on Reddit and posted the question, “What is your excitement level for Black Ops 6 Zombies?”
Of course, the people who replied to our thread were only a small percentage of the overall Zombies community, but from what we mostly gathered, players are cautiously optimistic for the release later this year. Most of the replies generally said they would rate their Black Ops 6 Zombies excitement at about 50%. Some outliers said they preferred the open world nature of MW3 Zombies or were just excited for round-based Zombies to return in a new form.
For the people who said they were in the middle, it seems they are tempering their expectations until more is shown. On the positive side, they are excited to see characters with personality back in the driving seat, the prison map looks interesting, and while the return of Gobblegums is controversial, to say the least, some are willing to see how they are implemented here. On the negative side, an always-online connection for Black Ops 6 has disappointed quite a few players, and not enough was shown in the direct to sink your teeth into.
Zombies is in a bit of a weird flux at the moment. We loved Black Ops Cold War Zombies. We thought that it was the best version of the mode gameplay-wise yet. The maps were so-so, but we loved all the tools it gave you to fight off the hordes of undead. Then Vanguard came out with the worst version of Zombies yet, and Modern Warfare 3 followed with an open world experience that long-time fans mostly couldn’t get behind. Here’s hoping that the Black Ops 6 Zombies excitement levels can rise before launch and the two new maps will capture long-time players and deliver a good, maybe great experience.
