The incredible Captain Olimar set out to research a mysterious planet 22 years ago when the original Pikmin game released in 2001. He crash-landed and discovered a strange race called the Pikmin. These small creatures helped Olimar rebuild his ship only for him to crash land again. This time, the Rescue Corp was sent out to find Olimar and bring him back.
Unfortunately, the Rescue Corp also crash-landed on this mysterious planet while searching for the intrepid captain. Pikmin 4 will arrive soon and it will be your turn to travel to this weird planet and rescue not only Captain Olimar, but the team in charge of saving him. Nintendo has revealed the next trailer for the upcoming title and it shows off more than just the story.
The trailer begins with a brief recap of the events that transpired in the first three games of the series. Things seem to always go wrong when someone gets near the planet because they always crash. With all hope lost, it is up to you to rescue everyone.
After the brief introduction, the character creator is revealed, showing that you can now create your own character journeying from the planet Hocotate. There appear to be a decent number of character options such as haristyle, body type, face design, and more.
With the introduction of the character creator, Pikmin 4 is starting to give us some major multiplayer vibes. Perhaps Nintendo will finally introduce online co-op to the series. Online multiplayer would be a great addition to the series as a whole and allow more players to finally connect with one another.
There will definitely be more information to come when Pikmin 4 releases later this year. Maybe Nintendo will surprise everyone with the newest game in the series. Be on the lookout for more trailers and additional information between now and July 21.
