As that lovely E3 showcase season approaches, it looks like PlayStation might be looking to show up with some pretty fun surprises
0:08
And this is all in the form of a supposed showcase. But let's break this all down, up next
0:19

When the weather starts to get nice and the summer approaches, the temperatures aren't the only thing heating up because gaming news heats up as well
0:42
This May to June window used to be the time in which the gaming world migrated to the once great E3 convention
0:49
And this is where all of gaming's biggest brands showed off what's coming up in the not-so-distant future
0:55
Well, since E3 has been laid to rest now, companies like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo found it would be a lot more cost-effective to hold showcase, or in Nintendo's case, directs on their own accords
1:08
But today, thanks to the VGC and Jeff Grubb, PlayStation might be cooking up a showcase as well
1:14
While on the Giant Bomb podcast, Jeff Grubb claimed to have heard a whole bunch of rumors that a PlayStation showcase or State of Play might take place in May
1:23
And of course, as we get into all of these rumors, I'm gonna issue your daily pinch of salt here
1:28
Quote, I have heard that there will be a PlayStation something, either a State of Play or a showcase, next month in May, so this is probably gonna be there
1:37
I've heard both a showcase and maybe a State of Play. It seems like it might lean towards a showcase
1:42
It's definitely in that time frame of when they did the showcase last year
1:46
And when hearing all this at first glance, this makes a ton of sense for PlayStation
1:51
They tend to gravitate towards this late May to early June window to hold an event
1:56
But looking at the other side of the coin here, at the same time, most of, if not all of their big-time exclusives for this year, have come out already
2:05
I'm looking at Rise of the Ronin, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and of course, Stellar Blade is fast approaching
2:11
Now if we rewind the clock here back to May of 2023, that was a PlayStation showcase
2:17
And it ran for just over an hour. And this is where more than 30 games were on full display, as well as the PlayStation Portal reveal
2:25
Some of the newer games that were announced at this event did include the likes of Helldivers 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, Marathon, Foam Stars, Fair Games, and even Concord
2:36
Now when talking about this year's showcase, I don't think there's gonna be as many games
2:42
And Sony made it pretty clear a while back, fans should not expect another big first-party exclusive for this year
2:48
But that doesn't rule out some smaller titles, so let's kind of piece together what announcements could be made here
2:55
Up first, Team Asobi, who are the minds behind the Astro Bot series, might be looking to release a game in 2024
3:01
While we don't know what this game is exactly, and what platforms it could possibly be made for, I'm looking at the PS5 or the PSVR 2
3:10
And I gotta say, I think Team Asobi secretly made one of the best PS5 titles, and I'm talking about Astro's Playroom
3:18
So it's safe to say whatever's coming next from them, count me in
3:22
Next up, Firewalk Studios have been hard at work on Concord, which was teased at last year's event
3:29
As of right now, the game is still slated for 2024. And I think now would be a great time to drop a gameplay, or even more of a story-based trailer to get fans more excited
3:39
Now a game I've seen across the board as the quote-unquote lock for the showcase, is that Silent Hill 2 remake
3:46
This is a big time PS5 exclusive, and wouldn't you know it, shoutout to Jeff Grubb here once again, the ESRB rating for this game has been posted up online
3:56
Now the only reason why I bring this up, when ratings start to go up for a game, this tends to mean more often than not, an announcement is pretty close
4:05
Now as for the hardware side of things, if you stuck around and watched previous GameBytes on this here channel, we talked a little bit about the PS5 Pro
4:14
This is looking to be one powerful console, and rumors keep popping up week to week centered around the console's performance and tech specs
4:22
And while this is all alleged, dev kits for the console itself have been out in the wild with first party and third party devs
4:29
I think this would be a wise move, again if this is all true, for PlayStation to get out in front of all of these rumors and just put this announcement out there
4:38
That hey, we are working on a PS5 Pro, and this is when you could expect it
4:43
Now personally I think the PS5 Pro being revealed here is more of an out there kind of prediction, but when you look at the few games they got in the works
4:52
slotting this console announcement in as your headliner for this showcase, would be a home run hit
4:58
I also want to put it out there just to kind of cover all of my bases, I think it's no secret the impending announcement of more first party games coming to the PC might be made here as well
5:09
But with all that being said, I'm going to pass this question off to you guys
5:13
What announcements do you think could be made at this here showcase
5:16
Now you guys know me, I'm going to keep banging my drum until somebody hears me
5:21
If Sony could please just make something Sly Cooper or Jak and Daxter related, I'll be one happy camper
5:29
Honestly, I don't ask for much. But hey, drop a like and comment on this here video, and subscribe to Game Sandwich for all your gaming news, rumors, and reviews
