With the launch of Season 20, console players are quite irked at the new changes brought to the Overwatch 2 controller sensitivity and aim assist settings in their version of the game. Some call it “unplayable” and note that things just have not felt right when playing with a controller since the new patch went live.

As someone who plays Overwatch on console, I can definitely share the feeling that things definitely feel off. I jumped into my first competitive game of the new season and instantly noticed just how jittery and weird things feel compared to playing the game just yesterday.

The good news is that Aaron Keller and the team are aware of people’s frustrations and said they are currently investigating.

We've received reports that aim sensitivity on console feels off. We're currently investigating and will update as we get more info.

In the meantime, setting Aim Smoothing to 100% can alleviate some of the issue.

How to Fix Overwatch 2 Controller Sensitivity Issues

As Keller said in his Twitter post above, many players are saying the best way to alleviate some of the wonkiness with the new aim settings is to go in and increase Aim Smoothing to 100%. Here is how to find it.

  1. Open Options
  2. Go to the Controls tab
  3. Select Advanced under the Controller horizontal and vertical sensitivity sliders
  4. Go to Aim Smoothing and increase it to 100%

Personally, I did the above, and things still feel quite a bit off to me afterwards. The Aim Smoothing technique definitely makes it feel better than it was, but things are still different from what you previously played with. I also adjusted Aim Ease In to 50% and found that feels better.

If you feel like your Overwatch aiming still feels quite weird, I recommend trying to slightly lower the horizontal and vertical sensitivity just a bit. It will slow you down just a little bit, but that’s better than the jerky motions that currently seem to have been housed in the game. Also, try to messing with the other advanced settings to see if you can find some ground that feels comfortable to you until Blizzard either reverts or changes how these settings work.
