Anyone who has played Pikmin in the past knows about the Yellow Pikmin. They are one of the three primary Pikmin colors that are essential to complete puzzles. What makes Yellow Pikmin special is their ability to handle electricity. This allows you to connect wires and destroy electric fences without having your Pikmin perish.
Since they are also very light, Yellow Pikmin can also be launched higher and farther than other Pikmin types — allowing you to collect items on high-up ledges and distant enemies. There is no denying that Yellow Pikmin are one of the most necessary in the game. This guide will show you how to unlock Yellow Pikmin in Pikmin 4.
Where to find Yellow Pikmin in Pikmin 4
Typically, you unlock Pikmin by finding an Onion. In Pikmin 4, you will unlock the Yellow Pikmin by finding them in the wild first. Specifically, you will find them in a dungeon called Crackling Cauldron.
Follow the path marked on the map above to find the entrance to the Crackling Cauldron. Go into the dungeon and you will be able to find the Yellow Pikmin buried in the ground inside a broken flower pot. This will be your first run-in with the Yellow Pikmin, but there are more later in the dungeon.

Where to find the Yellow Onion in Pikmin 4
After you have unlocked the Yellow Pikmin, leave the Crackling Cauldron and use your new friends to break the nearly electric fence that is on the path you took to reach the dungeon. Once the fence is broken, follow the new path and locate the bag that needs to be crushed.
On the other side of the bag is the Yellow Onion. With the Yellow Onion found, have 20 Pikmin carry it to the Red Onion. As in previous games, the two Onions will fuse and you will now be able to get more Yellow Pikmin.
