For those who missed it, the first Concord beta was last weekend. Don’t worry, Firewalk Studios has a second beta going on if you would still like to try out the new hero shooter prior to its release. While the game has some promise, those who were there for the closed beta agree that Concord has some big issues that could affect players sticking around after the game is released. Now, players also agree that Concord is “missing something” with some saying that it needs some sort of “wow factor” to keep players interested and to set it apart from the rest of the games in the genre.

Concord is the latest entry in the genre of games known as “hero shooters.” This genre became popularized by games like Overwatch which give you a roster of characters to choose from each with their own special abilities. While most games in this genre have something that sets them apart from one another, Concord is noticeably lacking that special factor.

This game is missing something…

This is perfectly highlighted in a post by user pogimike on Reddit. In this post, the user states, “This game is missing some kind of x or wow factor to it. I think the crew system is attempting to be that x-factor which draws people back into it to play over and over, but in my opinion, the crew builder is not the answer. And while the weekly story is something, people play PVP shooters for the gameplay first.” They went on to say, “Overwatch was a true hero shooter on console. The idea of ultimates, tanks, support players that healed, DPS, and pushing a payload truly wowed me. The iconic character designs blew me away. I had no intention of buying overwatch but it was a day one buy after playing their beta.”

Many in the comments agreed with this statement with one saying, “The crew feature is unique but not really pushed. Other than that, I’m not sure it’s necessarily missing something that would take it to the next level. It’s a mix of a few different games, and it comes off as you said, being fun but not mind-blowing.” There are also players who agree that the character design in Concord isn’t there and that there are plenty of other games with better characters.
