Foamstars Seasonal Content Coming To An End In January

Recently Square Enix officially announced via a blog post that seasonal content will be coming to an end for the PlayStation-exclusive four-on-four party shooter FoamStars. It is worth noting that Foamstars will still continue to get content expansions that will hold over players until the final season wraps up in mid-January 2025.

Over its life cycle, there were many comparisons drawn to Nintendo’s Splatoon series. Since its release, Foamstars only received mixed or average reviews amongst critics and fans alike. Having released with a $30 dollar price tag, the game’s official X page revealed that Foamstars would be going free-to-play back on October 4th.

Ironically the final season for Foamstars is titled Party Goes On! And is set to launch on December 13th, 2024, and will conclude on January 17th, 2025. But this is not the end of content releases for the game. After the end of season-based content for Foamstars, Square Enix and Toylogic will pivot the future plans for this title. Players will be able to get back into any past seasonal content that they may have missed and switch between any season’s rewards at any point in time. However, the added twist is not all the seasonal content will become instantaneously free, players will still have to pay a fee to access the game’s Premium Pass content.

But it turns out online play and challenges are also subject to this revamp too. Limited-time challenges are going to be replaced with daily and event challenges with event challenges being updated every Saturday. As for online versus matches that will continue but the competitions will be rebranded as the Foamstar Cup Legend League. Each cup will be named after one of the game’s characters and that will be rotated every four weeks. Lastly, Extreme Party events will continue to be held every Saturday from 10 p.m. to 9:59 a.m. EST, switching between Super Duel Party, Pitchside Homerun Party, One-Shot Chill Party, and Invisible Party.
