Nintendo is no stranger to putting on concerts featuring its most beloved soundtracks — as evidenced by its six-year-long Symphony of the Goddess tour — and will soon release a new pre-recorded Zelda concert on February 9. The Legend of Zelda is one of the most celebrated game series out there, in no small part thanks to its collection of memorable arrangements. Play any mainline title, and chances are you’ll catch at least a few earworms you’ll find yourself humming well after you put down the controller.
Nintendo announced the concert early Tuesday morning, stating that it would broadcast at 5 a.m. PT/8 a.m. ET on the company’s official YouTube channel. There is no word on how long the concert will last, nor what songs we can look forward to hearing as of yet.
The official Japanese Twitter account for the Zelda franchise also shared the announcement, and specified that the concert was initially planned to be held live at the Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo event before it was cancelled last month. The event was previously scheduled to take place on January 20 and 21, but was shelved due to threats targeting both Nintendo staff and audience members. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 and the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 were planned to take place at the event, and as such were also postponed.
Last year was a pretty huge year for The Legend of Zelda franchise, between the release of the long-awaited Tears of the Kingdom and the announcement of a live-action Zelda movie following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The planned film adaptation will be directed by Wes Ball, who previously directed the Maze Runner trilogy of movies. It’s anyone’s guess what 2024 will hold for the franchise.
