A fan-made trailer for Skull Kid in Super Smash Bros. has us dreaming of what the real thing could look like.

As much as everyone loved Super Smash Bros., we tend to think a lot about the characters we’ve never had a chance to fight with. A new fanmade trailer by the YouTube channel King Bob imagines what a possible reveal of Skull Kid in Super Smash Bros. could look like, with an ending surprise announcement for Tingle as well.

The trailer does a really good job of hitting all the aspects of what we expect from a Smash announcement. Not only are we paying homage to Majora’s Mask with the inclusion of Termina and the moon coming crashing down, but we see other aspects of the Nintendo world incorporated. Princess Peach and the Mushroom Kingdom look worried as the sun is eclipsed. Star Fox looks to fight the enemy only to find the horrifying moon face staring them down. We even get a brilliant nod to the citizens of Clock Town accepting their fate on the third day, with Mario and Luigi hugging each other and Bowser consoling Isabelle.

A good Smash reveal isn’t done without some secret reveal, though, and we get a look at Tingle, of all people, butting his way into the spotlight. Where the gameplay of Skull Kid is pretty floaty and focused on the abilities gained from Majora’s Mask, Tingle is very focused on Rupee usage, a nod to Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland, a DS game that never was released in the United States.

Looking at the rest of King Bob’s channel, it looks like they make a lot of Smash-related animated videos “announcing” various characters, so we highly recommend checking them out if you love this stuff. Who knows if we will ever see Skull Kid and Tingle in Super Smash Bros., but a reveal like this makes us wish a little more.
