In a story that perhaps a lot of people saw coming, Elder Scrolls 6 will not be coming to the PS5. That’s according to a document from Microsoft. Details come from the FTC court case regarding Xbox acquiring Activision Blizzard. The game will evidently be released for Xbox and PC when it is released in the future.
The paper, obtained by Axios reporter Stephen Totilo, contains a list of games from Microsoft and their reported release dates and systems. The list details games including Starfield, Redfall, and The Elder Scrolls 6 but only lists the next Elder Scrolls game as releasing on Xbox and PC. Another takeaway is the fact that the game is expected to be released in 2026 or later.
While there is no clear release date, The Elder Scrolls 6 will mirror previously released Microsoft titles and not be released on PS5. A statement from Phil Spencer reads, “[I]n order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls 6.”
We knew we had a fair amount of time to wait before the next Elder Scrolls game, but now we have a more concrete date. 2026 is approaching and that gives Microsoft and Bethesda more time to release Skyrim at least once more.
