There is one boss that shines above all others in Dark Souls history. To this day, he is regarded as one of the most difficult bosses, but also one of the most enticing and well-created. You know him as Knight Artorias, and fans have been asking for his return since they knew Dark Souls bosses would be making an appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign. Now, months after the game’s initial release, we are finally getting the first DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign, and it includes the legend himself: Artorias, along with some other major additions.
Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Coming Next Month
During the PlayStation State of Play on November 11, 2025, FromSoftware announced it would be launching the first DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign, titled The Forsaken Hollows, and it comes with some major additions that we are excited about. First of all, two new Nightfarers are joining the battle against the Nightlord: the Scholar and the Undertaker.
The Scholar is an academic who acts as an arcane spellcaster, while the Undertaker is adept at both faith and strength – a combo that many took a shine to in Elden Ring thanks to the numerous strength weapons and incantations. Both Nightfarers are sure to add a nice mix to the game for both new players and Soulslike veterans.
Along with this, we will see a new shifting earth event called The Great Hollow. This event opens up the center of the map, flooding it with a chasm of exotic ruins, sacred towers, and the remains of an ancient people. According to the PlayStation Blog, this area is filled with a “life-draining miasma.”
Finally, the grand reveal was that two new bosses would be added to the roster, both of which are very well-known. First, the Dancing Lion boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree made an appearance, but it was far from the most exciting. The true boss that many have been waiting for is finally making a return, and it is none other than Knight Artorias from the Artorias of the Abyss DLC for Dark Souls.
It should be noted that while Artorias did make an appearance in the trailer, and a mighty grand one at that, he did so without his trusty partner Sif. It is unclear if Sif will be added to Elden Ring Nightreign, but it does make us slightly sad that Artorias might be without his sidekick, especially because a fight against both of them at once would be amazing.
