One of the biggest developments of 2025 was the use of AI for various tasks, specifically in the creative field. We have all seen AI TikTok shorts or images generated online. If you have used ChatGPT, you have used generative AI. The accelerated use of this technology has led to some major RAM shortages. In turn, this has led to RAM skyrocketing in price, if you can even find it in stock. The latest development of this story has led to the Steam Deck, a popular handheld console, being sold out on the Steam Marketplace, and there is no guarantee it will be back in stock anytime soon.
Steam Deck Out of Stock Due to “Memory and Storage Shortages”
PC users in the US have recently noticed that the Steam Deck is out of stock. This includes the 256GB LCD, 512GB OLED, and 1TB OLED models of the popular PC handheld. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee as to when these systems will be back in stock. Currently, a note on the Steam page for the Steam Deck reads, “Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages. Steam Deck LCD 256GB is no longer in production, and once sold out, will no longer be available.”
For now, both OLED versions of the system will be unavailable, and the LCD variant of the system is sold out, so it will no longer be in stock. Those who want to get their hands on the system will need to wait until it is available.
This is not the first bad news we have received from Valve about its consoles. Recently, news came out that the Steam Machine may be delayed or in short supply because of the memory shortages as well. Many have also stated that they believe that the next console generation won’t arrive until closer to 2030 due to the shortage as well.
