You can find and equip many different kinds of shields in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That being said, one in particular is very rare and can only be found in certain spots. The Kite Shield is an item that can only be found up to three times, and it never respawns. It’s not necessarily one of the best items in the game, but it is cool to find. Here are the Kite Shield locations in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

As mentioned above, there are three spots where you can find a Kite Shield in Breath of the Wild, and one of them is only available in Master Mode. Here are the three you can find in the regular version of the game:

  • North Tabantha Snowfield
    • In the northernmost skull-shaped monster camp, there is a chest in the ground. Use Magnesis to pull it up. This is the easiest way to find it, but there are more below.

  • Hebra Plunge
    • On the eastern side of this lake area is a waterfall. At the top, there is a large ice block that you can hit with a fire item to melt and reveal a chest holding another Kite Shield.

  • Selmie’s Shield Surfing
    • You can do some Shield Surfing races for Selmie. If you complete the Advanced Course with a time between 2:15-2:29, you will win a Kite Shield.

Above are the only three Kite Shields you can find in Breath of the Wild. When you throw them away, or they get destroyed, they will not respawn. They’re not necessarily the strongest shields in the game, but people like them for their design. Be sure to consider putting one on display in Link’s house.
