Xbox Confirms Its Next-Gen PC And Home Gaming Console Hybrid ‘Project Helix’

The newly minted Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, is kicking off her tenure as the head of Xbox in a major way by confirming long-standing rumors that their next-generation console can play both PC and Xbox games, and it’s currently living under the codename Helix.

A New Era

Ever since the massive leadership shakeup over at Xbox just a few short weeks ago, fans were left in a state of panic over the uncertain future of the Xbox brand. Many believed this marked the beginning of the end for Xbox simply because there was uncertainty regarding future hardware and a military-grade stockpile of bad press looming over the brand. This left fans hungry for something more to go off of and hold out hope for the future, and based on a recently released post by Xbox, Asha Sharma delivered.

A recently released X post, Asha Sharma, confirmed a few long-standing rumors that should have Xbox fans at the very least optimistic for the future that lies ahead of them. “Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox, including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console.” Sharma continued, “Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!”

Execution is Key

Rumors that linked Xbox to a PC and home gaming console hybrid aren’t new. But as it stands right now, Xbox has to deliver when it comes to their next-generation console, along with games to play on it. I also think it is very reasonable to have doubts heading into this new era of Xbox, simply because they’ve failed to deliver over recent years.

But based on what we know now, if this all comes to fruition, Sharma will deliver on her goal of making this new hardware a leader in console performance. But as we all know, in gaming, execution is always key. GDC is slated for next week, and this is where Asha Sharma plans to hold conversations with Xbox partners while in attendance. So fingers crossed, even more information leaks out to the general public regarding Project Helix, and hopefully brighter days are ahead for Xbox.
