Xbox Multi-Platform Approach May Slow Down

Xbox Multi-Platform Approach May Slow Down

Xbox certainly ruffled some feathers earlier this year when they announced select titles will be coming to the PS5 platform this year. Some of the titles in question included a mix of live service games and single player titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, Sea Of Thieves and more recently Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The Xbox multi-platform approach was met with a lot of pushback amongst hardcore Xbox fans because many people questioned where lines would be drawn when it came to certain big time games. Earlier on in the year this is where games like Bethesda’s Starfield came into question along with Forza Horizon and Halo Infinite.

A new rumor is now making the rounds that because of this pushback from fans Xbox might’ve had a change of heart. This is all coming from the spanish gaming insider eXtas1s who did leak accurate Game Pass information in the past. According to them, Microsoft has now either “paused or slowed down” bringing more games to the PS5 platform. Now to be clear eXtas1s does say this isn’t an outright cancellation of these plans but the fan reception to the Indiana Jones announcement made Xbox take notice.

To give you some peace of mind here, eXtas1s does state that the heavy hitters from Xbox like Gears Of War and Halo are “red lines” for Microsoft that are off the table for bringing to other consoles like the PS5. The leaker also shares their opinion that Microsoft will most likely “continue to move forward” once the chatter around Indiana Jones has died down. But this may urge Microsoft to take a more calculated approach when announcing future PS5 titles.

With Xbox allegedly coming up on their next generation of consoles and a strong lineup of games like Gear Of War E-Day, Perfect Dark and Fable I think it would be wise for them to really map out the road ahead. Executing the right plans to bolster Game Pass and future console sales now will help them in the long term to get back in the good graces with long time Xbox fans and future ones.
