If you have been enjoying XDefiant on console or PC, you have probably noticed some major issues with the game. Players have complained about technical issues, bunny-hopping, and even the characters’ skills. One of the biggest issues players have had in XDefiant is with the Spiderbot ability. This ability has been altered a bit from its original design but that will be changing soon as the Season 1 patch has negatively affected the Spiderbot and many have been noticing.

Ranked is now live and Season 1 is going on. With that being said, executive producer Mark Rubin has the Spiderbot ability on his mind. He recently posted on his X account, information that will alter the Spiderbot going forward. Those who are fans of the Dedsec faction will want to take note since this may affect your gameplay in the near future.

OK now that we've gotten through the patch and Ranked is now live, I want to talk about the Spiderbots.

So when the game launched there was a bug that you could shoot down at your feet and destroy the spiderbot. This was not intended. However, there was also a bug in that…

In the post, Mark Rubin said, “So when the game launched there was a bug that you could shoot down at your feet and destroy the spiderbot. This was not intended. However, there was also a bug in that meleeing them was way harder than it was supposed to be. So we wanted to keep the bug of shooting them off your own face in the game until we fixed other Spiderbot issues.”

He went on to say that the “bug fix got integrated into the Season 1 patch” and the counter was “unintentionally” removed. The team will be “reverting the fix in the next non-emergency patch.” This will allow players to shoot the Spiderbot off of their face but the other changes such as longer cooldowns will remain. In the future, the XDefiant team plans on changing the Spiderbot ability even more so players will need to keep this in mind. Mark stated, “We are going to change the way Spiderbot works so that there is an easier and clearer way to get them off your own face.”
